The Wooster City School District Board of Education recently named Scott Musser as the newest principal of Wooster High School. He will replace Eric Vizzo, who temporarily took on the role of interim principal for the spring semester following Dr. John Deuber’s retirement. With Musser’s appointment as WHS principal, Vizzo will return to his former role as principal of Cornerstone Elementary School.

Musser received a Bachelor of Science degree in middle childhood education from Heidelberg University, as well as a Master of Education in curriculum and instruction and a Master of Education in administration, both from Ashland University.

“I look forward to Scott’s leadership and know he will admirably guide Wooster High School, serving as an invaluable resource to our students and faculty,” said Wooster City Schools Superintendent Gabe Tudor. “I am very excited for everyone to meet Scott and collaborate with him to make the high school an even better place to work and learn."

Musser is currently the director of career-technical education at Madison Comprehensive School. He previously served as a principal at Mansfield Senior High School, principal at the Bio-Med Science Academy STEM School and a chemistry teacher for eight years.

Musser has a passion for improving school climate, helping students achieve academic success and improving instruction by providing professional development opportunities for teachers.

“Relationships are very important to me, and I strive to create a school atmosphere that is positive and inspiring for faculty and students,” said Musser. “I believe that the best administrators are collaborative, reflective and compassionate, and I am committed to leading Wooster High School in a way that reflects those values.”

Musser will begin his new role on Aug. 1.

Administratively, Wooster is in the process of filling an assistant principal position at Cornerstone Elementary School and a principal position at Edgewood Middle School.
